Clear, compassionate, and consistent communication is essential for leaders in BC’s community-serving and non-profit organizations—especially when teams are working under pressure, supporting vulnerable populations, and juggling complex demands. Strong communication doesn’t just prevent misunderstandings—it fosters trust, improves team cohesion, and helps organizations stay mission-focused, even in challenging circumstances.
This practical 4-hour workshop is designed for Supervisors and emerging leaders in the social services and non-profit sector who want to build stronger communication skills and support more effective dialogue across their teams. In the workshop, participants will:
– Understand how strong communication supports service quality, staff wellbeing, and organizational effectiveness;
– Learn practical verbal and non-verbal communication strategies tailored to frontline environments;
– Explore how body language impacts relationships and trust, especially in emotionally-charged situations;
– Identify common barriers to communication in fast-paced or resource-stretched settings;
– Learn techniques for dealing with challenging personalities; and
– Apply effective approaches to navigating difficult conversations with confidence and care.
Designed specifically for BC’s non-profit and community services context, this session offers tools that are immediately applicable and rooted in real-world experience.
