safeTALK is a half-day in-person training that teaches participants how to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to support to help keep them safe. People thinking about suicide do not want to die; often, they are looking for a way to manage their emotional pain. safeTALK is an internationally recognized LivingWorks program that features powerful presentations, audiovisuals, and skills practice. safeTALK participants report increased comfort with the topic of suicide and increased preparedness to ask about suicide and help the person with thoughts get connected to resources to help build safety. 99.9% of safeTALK participants highly recommend this training. Who is it for? safeTALK is suitable for individuals 15 and older. It is ideal for all types of community members, including first responders, teachers, youth workers, housing support, faith communities, parents/families, and community members interested in learning how to respond to suicide. safeTALK can be delivered for groups of 10 to 30 participants. Open group sessions are held regularly at the Crisis Centre, and off-site sessions can be booked for your community or organization. The Facilitators Our safeTALK trainers are certified, passionate, and able to tailor to the needs of your agency or community.
