Lab Outline
Executive Director 101 supports first-time, or incoming, executive directors (EDs) with practical skills and knowledge to succeed in their role.
In this lab, we will explore the eight domains of the executive director position:
- Leadership
- Governance
- Program and Service Management
- Human Resources
- Fund Development
- Financial Management
- Community and Public Relations
- Administration
Suggested participants: New and incoming executive directors (including similar roles such as CEOs, artistic directors, and managing directors) who are looking for structure and insight into the key responsibilities of the ED role.
Important note: If you are an executive director with more than one year of experience in the role, our Advanced Executive Lab may be a better fit for you.
Returning this October: Executive Director 101 – Indigenous Leadership Cohort is a lab designed for, and available exclusively to, Indigenous non-profit leaders in BC. This cohort is delivered in partnership with, and co-facilitated by, Indigenous Perspectives Society.
Lab Outcomes
By the end of this lab, you will have:
- Broad knowledge of the technical requirements and core competencies of the non-profit executive director role.
- Understanding of best practices in leadership and people engagement, mission impact, governance, and operations.
- Started a personalized 12-month action plan to identify and execute key objectives that support your success as a first-time executive director.
