Across British Columbia, community service organizations play a vital role in supporting individuals and families. Yet many Supervisors in this sector step into their roles with little to no formal training in leadership or management. While their dedication is invaluable, the transition from being a strong individual contributor to effectively guiding others can be challenging without the right tools.

This interactive workshop is specifically designed for new and experienced Supervisors working in BC’s nonprofit and community-based organizations. It aims to help participants go beyond day-to-day management and develop an in-depth understanding of the leadership and coaching skills needed to build healthy teams and values-aligned workplace cultures.

Workshop participants will:
• Understand and distinguish the roles of manager, leader, and coach in the context of project-driven work;
• Explore strategies for staying grounded in core values while adapting to the diverse needs of staff and communities;
• Apply the CLEAR Coaching Model to support staff development and performance;
• Review leadership styles that reflect equity, collaboration, and service;
• Utilize self-assessment tools to evaluate and guide their own leadership and coaching abilities; and
• Use effective communication and coaching language to build trust, resilience, and accountability within their team.

This workshop bridges theory to practice with hands-on, action-based essential skills focused on supporting Supervisors in navigating complex environments while staying connected to the people and communities they serve.
