The BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH) is a member-based, provincial umbrella organization that, provides education, training, support and resources to Transition and Second Stage Houses, Safe Homes, Long Term Housing and the Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment (PEACE) programs for children and youth. BCSTH began with 6 transition houses in 1978, and today trains, supports and advocates on behalf of 136 members that offer over 200 anti-violence programs across BC, Yukon and Northwest Territories. Our goal is to amplify the voices of these vital services and to work collaboratively to end gender-based violence for all women, children and youth. BCSTH approaches anti-violence work through an intersectional feminist framework, incorporating a critical lens to the systems of power and oppression. BCSTH’s mission and mandate is to support members to meet the daily needs of all women and their families fleeing and at risk of violence. Training is at the heart of what we do as a Society to ensure that members have the tools to excel at their work. BCSTH offers online training courses and facilitated online training, in person training, and hosts an Annual Training Forum in the fall.
